The name comes from the encouragement players give one another on the bench: the last shift is behind you, and the next one is ahead. The Next Shift Project carries that sense of support beyond the rink.
The project's invitation is to break the ice on difficult conversations using the language of hockey. The designs are intended to give people a familiar opening to talk about mental health and where to find help.
The front says it plain — you're not done. The Next Shift player rides the full back, and the 988 line sits on the sleeve, so the number ends up where it might be needed.
